Trojans Face Conference Opponent Showdown at Dual-Site MVC Showcase

LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock swimming and diving team will have a showdown against Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) opponents for the first time this season on Friday and Saturday, as the Trojans travel to Carbondale to race Evansville, Missouri State, and hosts Southern Illinois.

The results will be combined with times and scores from the other location in the two-day, dual-site meet. In Chicago, Illinois State, Indiana State, Northern Iowa and hosts UIC will compete. Only MVC swim teams Marshall and Valparaiso will not participate. Live results available on the MeetMobile app. A schedule of events can be viewed below.

"We are ready to finally get on the road this season, and what a great way to test our travel skills! SIU has a perfect venue for the MVC Showcase and we have always enjoyed racing there," said Little Rock head coach Amy Burgess.

"We have been facing some challenges over past few weeks with illness and injuries, but this team continues to show grit in the face of adversity and we look forward to seeing that come out this weekend."

The Trojans have had more two weeks of training since their last home meet of the fall semester, and since then, other teams in the MVC have started their seasons. Highlighting the first MVC Swimmer of the Week release, Little Rock's own Annya Grom was selected after her strong swims to start her senior campaign, including the conference's top time in the 100 free.

Also within the top 10 of the conference rankings include sophomores Jaelle Carlson and Caitlin Romprey. Carlson sits at #8 in the 100 fly and #9 in the 100 free while Romprey holds #4 in the 200 back and #8 in the 100 back after a stellar last outing for the Trojans.
