Little Rock Notches Straight-Set Win over Southern Indiana

Trojans record zero hitting errors in third set

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock used a balanced attack as the Trojans recorded a win for the third time in four outings, coasting past Southern Indiana in a 3-0 decision Friday evening at the Jack Stephens Center.
 
The Trojans hit .337 as a team and had six different players record more than five kills with all players hitting in positive numbers. Laure Jansen led the way with nine kills while Daedrianna Cail posted a match-high .600 hitting percentage.
 
Jeila Fullerton came close to a double-double with eight kills and 10 digs to go along with her .439 hitting percentage. Set scores were 25-18, 25-20 and 25-18.
 
The Trojans (6-18, 3-8 Ohio Valley) jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the opening set and never looked back, hitting .333 in the set. Daria Burrows put down four kills and Fullerton tallied six digs in the opening frame.
 
The second set marked the only time Southern Indiana (1-20, 1-9) found itself with a lead with their largest advantage coming at the 6-3 mark. The score would flip twice before Fullerton's kill put Little Rock ahead 15-14, a lead they would not relinquish. Zanobia Willis' block assist four points into the set pushed her into the top 10 charts in block assists all-time at Little Rock. She would finish with three in the match, surpassing Tajana Andric for 10th in school history with 253 career block assists.
 
Not only did Little Rock never trail in the final set, but the Trojans also never committed a hitting error in the frame, posting a .560 mark as a team. Six different players combined for 14 kills on 25 attacks while adding two blocks.
 
Southern Indiana was led by Leah Anderson's double-double as she posted 17 kills and 12 digs while hitting.389 in the match.
 
The two teams meet again Saturday afternoon. First serve is set for 4 p.m. and will be shown live on EPSN+.
