LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Laure Jansen had a double-double with 18 kills and 19 digs and Little Rock pushed Lindenwood to the brink but the visiting Lions slipped past the Trojans, 3-2, in the home finale at the Jack Stephens Center Saturday afternoon.
Â
The two teams were tied 13-13 in the pivotal third set before Nyah Wilson put consecutive kills down to clinch the match for Lindenwood (10-15, 7-9 Ohio Valley). Wilson led all players in kills and added 10 digs of her own. Set scores were 25-12, 15-25, 25-21, 17-25 and 15-13.
Â
For Jansen, it was her second consecutive double-double – a needed effort for a team limited to just 10 active players due to a bevy of injuries. Daedrianna Cail added 11 kills and a match-high .385 hitting percentage while
Zanobia Willis led all players with six blocks.
Jeila Fullerton also tallied 11 kills while
Rylee McClintock contributed 17 digs.
Â
Jansen and Willis each put down two kills in the final set but of Lindenwood's 15 points in the final set, five came off of kills by Wilson.
Â
Little Rock (7-22, 4-12) out-hit the Lions, .208 to .192, and tallied one more block (11-10) but had 10 service errrors with just two aces.
Â
The loss eliminated the Trojans from contention in the upcoming OVC Tournament. Little Rock will wrap up the 2022 regular season next weekend with a two-game series at Tennessee State.
