LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – The longest-standing rivalry in the state gets renewed Sunday when Little Rock hosts Arkansas State at the Jack Stephens Center in a battle of former Sun Belt Conference foes.
Â
Tip-off is set for 1 p.m. and the Trojans are putting a 17-game home winning streak against the Red Wolves on the line. ASU found a way to pull away from Grambling Thursday night in Jonesboro while Little Rock is coming off its fifth SEC opponent of the season after playing at Alabama Thursday night.

Kyle Deckelbaum (play-by-play) and Dorian Craft (analyst) will have the call on ESPN+ while Trey Schaap will be on air on the Little Rock Sports Network (920 AM The Sports Animal).

Series History
- This will be the 70th meeting in the longest-running rivalry in the state of Arkansas when Little Rock hosts A-State on Sunday but the first time the two teams have met in a non-conference regular season game since 1988.
- Little Rock has won four straight games in the series overall.
- The Trojans have compiled 17 consecutive wins at home against the Red Wolves. A-State's last win in the Capital City came on Jan. 29, 2004 at Trojan Fieldhouse, a game that went into overtime for an 86-79 final score.
Â
Five Things to Know
- Natural Success
With the 60-56 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Nov. 10, Little Rock continued its home domination over Natural State foes at the Jack Stephens Center. Since the building opened in 2005, the Trojans have only suffered two losses at home against an in-state opponent at the Jack. That came at the hands of Arkansas in an 80-70 thriller in 2020 and then again on Nov. 20 of this season in a result that was slightly less competitive.
- Oh, It's Them Again
The longest-running rivalry in program history didn't end when Little Rock moved away from the football-focused Sun Belt and to the regionally-aligned Ohio Valley Conference as Arkansas State visits the Capital City Sunday. Meeting for the 70th time overall, the Trojans are looking for their 18th consecutive win at home and fifth consecutive overall against A-State. Sunday's contest is the first in a four-year deal between the two programs with alternating home games, extending the state's longest-running rivalry.
- Different Strokes for Different Folks
You would be hard pressed to find two teams that are more diametrically opposed to each other's style of play than Little Rock and Arkansas State. The Trojans are averaging just 46.6 ppg but only allowing 62.1 ppg while A-State is averaging 70.4 ppg and allowing 73.3 ppg. Little Rock's defense is ranked in the top 10% of the country while ASU's defense ranks in the bottom 10%. On the other hand, ASU's offense is ranked in the top 10% of the country while Little Rock's offense is ranked in the bottom 10%.
- You've Gotta Have Faith
George Michael knew what he was talking about in his song lyrics. That's because Little Rock's Faith Lee is having a strong start to her freshman season. She enters this game ranked 22nd nationally and third in the OVC among freshmen by averaging 4.0 two-point field goals made per game. Meanwhile her 10.3 ppg ranks her 57th nationally and third in the OVC among all freshmen. She is one of only 63 freshmen in the country to be currently averaging 10.0 points or more per game.
- Stingy Defense
This game is shaping up to be a battle of wills and whomever wins out will likely not be able to do so easily. So far this season, Little Rock's defense has held opponents to just 9.9 assists per game, ranking the Trojans 34th in the nation and leads the OVC. In fact, no other OVC program is holding their opponents under 12.8 assists per game. On the other hand, Arkansas State's 15.0 assists per game ranks the Red Wolves 97th in the country and fourth in the Sun Belt. Additionally, Trojan opponents have just a 42.4% assisted shot rate, ranking Little Rock 21st in the nation. That mark is the lowest opponent assisted shot rate by an OVC team since at least the 2009-10 season, when that data began to be tracked. Arkansas State's 55.0% assisted shot rate mark ranks the Red Wolves 273rd nationally. Lindenwood is the only other OVC team holding their opponents under the 45% assisted shot rate mark. The assisted shot rate is the percentage of field goals made by a team that were assisted.
