LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock will open the 2022-23 indoor track and field season Friday when a handful of Trojans head to Kansas to compete at the Boo Rogers Combined Events and the Crimson & Gold Invitational.
Â
Both meets are hosted by Pittsburg State with the two-day Boo Rogers Combined events spanning Friday and Saturday while the Crimson & Gold Invitational will take place on Saturday only.

Three Things to Know
- Return of the Hype
After an injury sidelined him all of last indoor season, the Trojans' hype man is back. Dion Murombe returns to action at the Crimson & Gold Invitational as he is entered in the long jump. Murombe missed all of indoor season last year and competed in one meet during outdoor season.
- A Trio of Opportunities
Little Rock has a trio of chances to get the season started off on the right foot as Matthew Fox, Ethan Sorrels and Patrick Young are set to represent Little Rock's Team in the heptathlon over the two days of action in the Boo Rogers Combined Events. Sorrels looks to improve upon his personal best 4,949 point scored at Vanderbilt last year, a mark that ranks second in school history.
- Two is Better Than One
On the women's side, Gabby Ayiteyfio and Jayden Gilbert will represent the Maroon and Silver in the pentathlon competition, a series of five events that will all take place Friday. Both women posted career-best pentathlon marks at Vanderbilt last season with Ayiteyfio's 3,259 points ranking second in school history while Gilbert's 2,585 points ranking third in schoo history.
