Little Rock Shuts Down Red Wolves for Homecoming Win

Arkansas State remains winless at the Jack Stephens Center

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Raziya Potter scored 18 points and tied a season-high two blocks, leading a shutdown defensive effort that stymied Arkansas State in a 64-55 win Saturday. The Trojans celebrated the win as the university celebrated Homecoming.

The Red Wolves (11-13, 4-7 Sun Belt), which averaged 79 points per game and 42.6% from the field entering this game, was stymied throughout as A-State shot an anemic 28.6% (16 of 56) from the field, their lowest shooting mark in over a year.

But that was nothing new for Little Rock (12-8, 6-3) as the Trojans held their 10th opponent of the season to under 60 points. Little Rock is 10-0 in those games.

The end result was also nothing new for Arkansas State, a team that likens the Jack Stephens Center to a House of Horrors. The Red Wolves have never won a game at the Jack Stephens Center and as the final seconds ticked down Saturday, so did A-State's chances of ever winning a Sun Belt game in the arena. Little Rock will move to the Ohio Valley Conference beginning on July 1.

Potter's effort also came with four rebounds and a career-high four made 3-pointers as the senior guard got hot and rarely stopped from the field. She came of f the bench, scoring her 18 points in less than 30 minutes and shot 58% (7-for-12) from the field with a 57% mark (4-for-7) from 3-point range.

She was joined in double figures by Mayra Caicedo's 14 points while Dariel Johnson scored 10 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Every Trojan to see time on the court scored at least four points while five of the seven players in the rotation was credited with at least one steal or block on ASU.

Arkansas State was led by 13 points off the hands of both Jireh Washington and Lauryn Pendleton while Morgan Wallace, a guard that averaged 10.6 points per game, scored 10 but most of that came off free throws as she was just 1 of 6 from the field.

Little Rock will host Champion Christian on Monday at 6:30 p.m. in the final home game of the season before heading to Jonesboro for another battle with the Red Wolves on Saturday, Feb. 19 at 1 p.m.

The Trojans have just three Sun Belt Conference games remaining and close Saturday's action in a tie for third place with App State. The top four teams will receive a first round bye at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament.
