BEIJING – Bree Walker, a former Little Rock track and field middle distance runner, finished fifth in the inaugural monobob competition at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympic Games.
Â
The three-time letterwinner for the Trojans is competing for her native Australia at this year's Olympics.
Â
Walker fought her way back from 10
th place to finish fifth at the Yanqing National Sliding Center. Despite an exceptional final run in which she recorded the second-fastest time of the round, she fell just 0.43 seconds short of the bronze medal.
Â
Her time in Beijing is not over, however, as she will partner with Kiara Reddingius for the two-woman bobsleigh event which starts on Friday.
Â
During her career in the Maroon and Silver, Walker won a bronze medal at the 2014 Sun Belt Indoor Track and Field Championships in the distance medley relay, as the time of 11:59.12 was good enough for third at the championship meet. Walker's relay team included Cheryl Nolan, Ashtin Boykin and Emma Dahl as they ran the fourth-fastest time in school history.
Â
She would also score points at the 2014 Sun Belt Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a sixth-place finish in the 400m hurdles as well as seventh in the 4x400m relay.
