ARLINGTON, Texas – Sali Kourouma posted a double-double with 14 points and tied a career-high 11 rebounds but Little Rock couldn't overcome its own 17 turnovers in a 63-54 loss at UT Arlington Friday morning.
While Little Rock shot 45.5% from the field and made three more baskets than the host Mavs, UTA took advantage of 17 made free throws on 24 attempts (70.8%) while Little Rock was only granted one trip to the free throw line and that trip came on an intentional foul called on UTA.
Tia Harvey hit 1 of 2 shots. Harvey also dished out a game-high seven assists.
The Trojans (14-9, 7-4 Sun Belt) will now turn around and play again in 25 hours as the weather-affected schedule is not kind in Little Rock's final weekend of Sun Belt play. Meanwhile UT Arlington (17-6, 11-3) secured the No. 2 seed in next week's Sun Belt Tournament.
Kourouma, who recorded her third career double-double, was one of three players in double figures with
Raziya Potter scoring a game-high 15 points, eight of which came in the final quarter.
Dariel Johnson scored 10 points while grabbing five rebounds.
UTA also took advantage of several Little Rock miscues, scoring 19 points off 17 Little Rock turnovers while also putting in 16 points off 12 offensive rebounds.
With one game left to play in the regular season, the race for conference tournament seeding is still as wild as ever. Little Rock heads to San Marcos still able to finish anywhere from third to seventh. The top four seeds receive a first round bye in the Sun Belt Tournament.
