PALO ALTO, Calif. – Led by a 5-under 65 from
Anton Albers, Little Rock sits tied for eighth after round one of The Goodwin at the Stanford Golf Course. The Trojans posted a 5-under 275 in round one, sitting in a three-way tie for eighth among the 28-team field.

Albers had a strong showing in California, carding the 5-under 65, which included an eagle on the par-five 16th. He finished the round with the eagle, six birdies and eight pars with just two bogey, sitting tied for third among the individual leaders.
Jansen Smith also finished under par for Little Rock, carding a 1-under 69, highlighted by a 3-under 32 on the front nine. Smith is tied for 40th individually and leads teammate
Magnus Lomholt by one stroke after he posted an even-par 70 in round one.
Nico Horder registered a 1-over 71 in round one with
Marcel Rauch rounding out the Little Rock scorecard with a 3-over 73.
After 18 holes, Little Rock sits tied with Northwestern and UCLA at 5-under, one shot back of San Diego in seventh at 6-under 274 and three shots back of Nevada and BYU, who sit tied for fifth at 8-under 272. Host Stanford holds the team lead at 12-under 268, two shots better than second-place SMU (10-under 270) and three shots ahead of both Washington and Georgia Tech (9-under 271), tied for third.
After playing in the afternoon round Thursday, the Trojans will be part of the morning flight for Friday's second round, keeping the same groupings and playing with Nevada, San Francisco and SMU.
