LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – There's plenty of new things surrounding the Trojans this year but the legendary head coach of Little Rock's Volleyball program definitely isn't one of them.
Van Compton, starting her 35
th year leading Little Rock's Team, leads a new roster playing in a new conference into a familiar place to start the 2022 season.
Â
Little Rock will open the season at the A-State Invitational at FNB Arena in Jonesboro, facing Saint Louis (10 a.m.) and Mississippi Valley State (4 p.m.) on Friday before facing the host Red Wolves at 2 p.m. on Saturday on ESPN+.

Three Things to Know
- What's New?
What isn't? Other than the Queen's reign guiding the Trojans, several things surrounding the Trojans are new. That includes a new conference, several facility improvements and additions and a roster full of newcomers – 12, to be exact – broken up by first year freshmen and a handful of transfers. More new things will be put on display at the Jack Stephens Center once the home schedule begins in September.
- Still the Queen
You didn't she lost her title just because we moved to the Ohio Valley Conference, did you? Van Compton (#QueenComp) still reigns supreme and that shouldn't surprise anyone. Compton enters her 35th season coaching Little Rock's Team and 43rd season as a head volleyball coach overall, ranking 15th among active Division I coaches in wins.
- Compton Isn't the Only One
Van Compton isn't the only one that has been around the Little Rock program for a while. Team captain Nedima Kamberovic is back for her sixth year of college (don't worry folks, she's well past her undergraduate degree and is pursuing her MBA) and will be providing plenty of experience and leadership to a roster full of newcomers.
