Little Rock Makes First Trip to Birmingham, Set for Blazer Invitational

Trojans face host UAB for first time since 2009

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock Volleyball returns to action this weekend with a trip to Alabama as the Trojans will compete in the Blazer Invitational hosted by UAB at Bartow Arena beginning Friday.
 
The Trojans (1-2) will face Jackson State (1-3) and Samford (0-3) on Friday before facing host UAB (1-2) on Saturday. That match against the Blazers will be available for viewing on CUSA.tv.

Three Things to Know
  1. A First Time for Everything
    Hard as it might be to believe, when Little Rock heads to Birmingham this week for the Blazer Invitational it will mark the first time the Trojans will travel to The Magic City in program history.  While Little Rock has faced UAB twice before and Samford on three different occasions, none of those matches have taken place in Birmingham, only in neutral site locations.
  2. But Not the First Time in Bama
    That's not to say the Trojans are unfamiliar with the Yellowhammer State. A former member of the Sun Belt Conference, Little Rock often played at Troy and at South Alabama and even faced Samford in a neutral site game in Mobile back in 1993.
  3. Notable Win
    Not only was Little Rock's 3-0 win over Mississippi Valley on Aug. 26 notable in that it was the first of the 2022 season and the first as members of the Ohio Valley Conference, the victory also marked the program's 500th win since moving up to the Division I level in 1991.
