LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock student-athletes posted another exceptional semester in the classroom, accumulating a departmental 3.342 GPA during the Fall 2022 semester. The cumulative GPA for the Trojans is 3.356, extending the department's streak.
The performance moves Little Rock's streak to 19 consecutive semesters above a 3.00, continuing to showcase the athletic department's commitment to success in the classroom.
"I am again very proud of our student-athletes and the importance they place in their work in the classroom," said Director of Athletics George Lee. "They continue to be outstanding examples of what it truly means to be a student-athlete and represent Little Rock Athletics in a positive light. I am also thankful to our academic support team and coaching staffs for their hard work and emphasis in setting our student-athletes up for success."
Nearly one-fourth of all Trojan student-athletes (66) achieved a 4.0 GPA over the course of the spring semester with 71% of student-athletes recording a 3.0 or better GPA. Half of Little Rock's student-athletes registered a GPA of 3.5 or better as every Little Rock team had at least two student-athletes record a 4.0 GPA in the spring semester.
Most impressively, all 15 Little Rock athletic teams currently boast an overall (cumulative) GPA of 3.00 or better as 14 of the 15 finished the fall semester at 3.00 or higher with nearly every sport holding at least a portion of its competition schedule during that span.
Soccer finished the fall semester with the highest GPA in the department at 3.752, including 13 student-athletes with a perfect 4.00 GPA. Swimming and diving was close behind at 3.658, led by 10 student-athletes with a perfect 4.00, followed by men's golf at 3.602 and women's golf at 3.570.
Women's track and field/cross country had a strong fall as well, finishing at 3.454, including 14 perfect 4.00 GPA performers, with women's cross country runners accounting for a 3.673 mark in that total. Baseball followed at 3.361 in its non-competition season, followed by volleyball (3.310), men's track and field/cross country (3.111), women's basketball (3.070) and men's basketball (3.000). Men's cross country check in with a 3.606 GPA to help comprise the total for track and field.
The Trojan golf programs currently boast the highest cumulative GPAs in the department, led by men's golf at 3.629 with women's golf just a stroke back at 3.625. Swimming and diving (3.584) and soccer (3.565) are the other two programs with a GPA above 3.5 as volleyball (3.436), women's track and field/cross country (3.429) and baseball (3.368) not far behind.
