CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. — Little Rock limited its mistakes in all areas of Monday's game except the one that matters most, and despite battling early in their conference matchup with Southeast Missouri, the Trojans faltered late in a 3-0 loss at Houck Field House.
Little Rock (7-16 overall, 4-8 OVC) hit just .036 for the contest, converting 24 kills to 20 hitting errors while SEMO (18-5, 10-2) moved into a first-place tie in the conference with the win that saw the Redhawks hit consistently across all three sets and win by scores of 25-17, 25-21, 25-14. The Trojans fell to a full game behind UT-Martin for the eighth spot in the OVC with six matches remaining.
Little Rock returns home this weekend to host Eastern Illinois at 6 pm on Friday, and 2 pm Saturday at the Jack Stephens Center. EIU is currently 20-3 overall and tied with SEMO at 10-2 in conference play.
THE DIFFERENCE
SEMO hit .294 in the opening set, .244 in the second and .262 in the third. The Redhawks' consistent attack made it difficult for Little Rock to gain ground when trailing … SEMO had at least 14 kills in all three sets while the Trojans failed to reach double digits in any.
POINTS OF INTEREST
Jeila Fullerton hit .389 for the match and was the only Trojan to finish above.100 for the match. Fullerton had eight kills and just one error on 18 attacking opportunities … Little Rock continues to block at a high rate, finishing the match with 12 total blocks after posting a school-record 28 in the five-set win at Lindenwood on Saturday.
