Daedrianna Cail picked up her second All-OVC selection in as many seasons when the Ohio Valley Conference announced its 2023 All-OVC Volleyball Team and Awards on Sunday, the eve of the OVC Championships in Charleston, Ill.

Cail earned All-OVC First Team honors after a stellar sophomore season for the Trojans, who will make their first appearance in the conference tournament when they take on No. 1 seed and regular season champion Eastern Illinois tomorrow at 1 pm. Cail was a Second Team pick as a freshman.

This season, Cail ranked in the OVC Top 10 in blocks (second) and service aces (third) per set, as well as hitting percentage (fourth). She also ranks ninth in points per set. Cail leads the Trojans this season with 319 points, 218 kills, 33 aces, and 102 blocks. She also hit a team-best .333 percent during the regular season.

She recorded 10 or more kills in eight matches, six or more blocks in eight matches (with a single-season high 14 against Lindenwood) and hit .500 or better on six different occasions.

Eastern Illinois won three of the five superlatives including OVC Player of the Year, Setter of the Year and Coach of the Year. The Defensive and Freshman of the Year awards went to Southeast Missouri. EIU also placed four players on the First Team.
