Little Rock women head to New Orleans to wrap up non-conference schedule

The Little Rock women's basketball team will close out its non-conference schedule this week with a pair of game at the Tulane Holiday Tournament in New Orleans on Wednesday and Thursday. The Trojans will face tournament host Tulane at noon Wednesday, then take on either Duquesne or Maine on Thursday.

Wednesday's game can be streamed on ESPN+ and both games can be heard locally on Sports Animal 920 AM.

Tulane (5-4) leads the all-time series, winning all three previous matchups. The most recent meeting was in New Orleans in November of 2015 with the Green Wave winning 69-53. The only meeting in Little Rock took place in December of 2014, a 74-58 Tulane victory. The first meeting between the teams dates back to 1988, when Tulane beat the Trojans 73-55 in New Orleans.

Little Rock (0-9) dropped a 74-59 decision at Arkansas State on Sunday, despite setting new team season highs in 3-point percentage (50%), free throw percentage (100%), assists (15) and steals (10). Leilani Wimbish-Gay scored a career-best 15 points to lead the Trojans and grabbed six rebounds. Jaiyah Harris-Smith finished with 11 points, 8 assists and 3 steals while Faith Lee added 14 points, 3 assists and 3 steals.

Tulane has won its last two, beating New Orleans (90-63) and Howard (67-52) at home and the Green Wave are 4-1 at Fogelman Arena this season. Kyren Whittington leads the team with 16.7 points per game, followed by Marta Galic (13.6) and Hannah Pratt (13.6). Irina Parau is the leading rebounder with 6.6 per contest. The teams have one common opponent, as both have lost to Missouri State this season.
