BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – After leading the Ohio Valley Conference in both scoring and steals, Little Rock forward
Sali Kourouma has been named the OVC's Co-Player of the Week following the final week of play in the regular season.
Kourouma averaged 23.5 points and 5.5 steals over two games last week while shooting 47.7% from the field. Scoring 47 points overall, she was the only player in the OVC to record multiple 20-point scoring games and led Little Rock to an outright conference championship in just its first year in the league.
Rising to No. 1 nationally in player defensive rating (61.0), Kourouma's 11 steals last week outpaced the rest of the league. She led the conference in scoring and steals while playing less minutes than the next three best players in both categories.
This marks Kourouma's third Player of the Week honor of the season.
Little Rock finished the regular season at 20-9 with a 17-1 mark in OVC play, going undefeated at home in the conference. The Trojans head to the league tournament having won 12 straight games and 18 of the past 20.
Kourouma and the Trojans head to Evansville, Indiana next for the 2023 OVC Tournament at the Ford Center. The regular season conference champion and No. 1 seed, Little Rock gets a double-round bye to the semifinals and will play Friday, Mar. 3 at 1 p.m. on ESPN+.
