Five Things to Know
- Hi, My Name Is...
... Not Slim Shady, but that may be a preferable introduction for SIUE once they get to the full effect of the Joe Foley Experience. The Cougars visits the Capital City as the last OVC program to introduce themselves to Little Rock's Team.
- Don't I Know you?
If a face on the SIUE bench looks familiar, that's because it is. KK Rodriguez spent her first three years at Tulsa and played against the trojans on Dec. 9, 2018 when Little Rock claimed a 63-53 win over the Golden Hurricane. Rodriguez played 11 minutes in that contest, going 0-2 from the field with one rebound, one foul, two turnovers, one block and one steal while failing to score. That game was so long ago, Rodriguez was on the court at the same time as current Little Rock Director of Basketball Operations Raeyana DeGray, who scored 4 points, grabbed eight rebounds and had three steals in the win.
- Four Quarters
Entering this game, Little Rock's defense has been so suffocating that the Trojans have limited opponents to just four points in a single quarter on THREE separate occasions and even more impressively, all three occasions have come on the road. Little Rock held Southern Indiana to just four points in the fourth quarter as the Trojans rallied for a 47-44 win in Evansville then limited Southeast Missouri to four points in both the second and fourth quarters on Feb. 2 in Cape Girardeau.
- All The Single Ladies
But perhaps that previous note isn't surprising. Afterall, Little Rock's defense has kept Trojan opponent scoring in the single digits in a quarter on 24 separate occasions this season with Texas A&M (Dec. 6) and Tennessee State (Jan. 21) not able to reach double digits in three of the four quarters against Little Rock.
- Four for Forty
Entering this game, Little Rock's vaunted defense (which strikes like a King Cobra) has held four different opponents this season under 40 points. Forget trying to reach triple digits or even half that, some teams are just trying to hit 40 against Little Rock's Team when their offense ends up being Carta Blanca. It's like they are facing a Hurricane. Perhaps the next time around, they will put some Olde English shine on their game plan.
