LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Former Little Rock player
Yanina Inkina led her team to a sixth consecutive win as she was one of three former Trojans to make noise in the professional ranks last week.
Inkina (6-1/F-1997, played in 2017-19, plays pro in Russia) contributed to an easy victory against the second-ranked Spartak SP (18-14) crushing them 94-53 in the Russian Superleague 1 in Sunday night's game. She scored nine points and grabbed four rebounds in 16 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top-3 ranked teams in group Places 7-12. Runa Basket Moscow (18-14) is placed first and it was her team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. It's Inkina's first season with the team. Inkina has relatively good stats this year with 10.3 ppg, 3.2 rpg and 1.2 apg in 38 games played so far.
Nikki Metcalfe (6-2/F, graduated '2023, plays in Australia) could not help Melbourne Tigers (2-3) in their last game on Saturday. Despite her very good performance the 12th-placed Melbourne Tigers (2-3) were defeated 80-72 on the road by the higher-ranked Rangers (#10) in the South group. Metcalfe was the second best scorer with 20 points. She also added four rebounds. But this is still an early stage of the season and anything can happen. This year Metcalfe averages 10.0 ppg and 4.0 rpg.
Angelique Francis (5-11/F, played in 2019-23, currently in Australia) is a teammate of the previously mentioned Metcalfe, but it was another game of her team in Australian NBL One which we would like to mention. Francis contributed to a Melbourne Tigers' surprising victory against the sixth-ranked Spectres (3-2) 88-71. She scored 10 points and grabbed four rebounds in 29 minutes. Melbourne Tigers (2-3) are placed 12th in South group. This year Francis averages 4.0 ppg, 4.3 rpg and 1.5 apg in four games.
