Series Tennessee Tech leads, 4-2
LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock will play the final games at Gary Hogan Field of the 2023 season this weekend in an OVC series against Tennessee Tech beginning on Friday. Game one is set for 6 p.m. with game two on Saturday at 4 p.m. and the series finale on Sunday at 1 with a pregame ceremony to honor graduates.

Last Time Out
The Trojans dropped a heartbreaker to Arkansas State in Jonesboro on Tuesday in the only matchup of the year between the two programs. Each team took turns with the lead early in the game and in back to back half innings the Red Wolves would score four before Little Rock struck for five with two homeruns, eventually building the lead out to 8-4. Late runs proved costly as ASU would score one in the seventh, three in the eighth and one in the ninth to walk off the Trojans. Homeruns were aplenty for Little Rock as Tyler Williams began the scoring with a solo shot in the first. Skyler Trevino and Alex Seguine both hit homeruns for one run and three runs respectively in the top of the second inning and the three hits accounted for five of the Trojans seven RBI. Hoss Brewer was excellent out of the bullpen in six innings of work, allowing one run none earned and striking out three while scattering four hits.

Scouting the Golden Eagles
Tennessee Tech enters the weekend with an overall record of 17-28 to go along with an OVC record of 8-10, the Golden Eagles are currently on a one game losing streak. Last weekend TTU swept SIUE at home in three fairly close matchups. Friday was the biggest score difference as the Golden Eagles ended up on top in a 14-9 decision. A doubleheader on Saturday ended with Tennessee Tech winning both games by two runs, 7-5 in game number one before completing the sweep in a 9-7 win in the series finale. On Tuesday the team traveled to Lexington to take on no. 16 Kentucky and dropped the game by a final score of 9-2. TTU has been above .500 at home this season with a record of 12-8 but have run into issues on the road at a 5-20 mark on the year. Senior first baseman John Dyer has been a force at the plate this season, hitting to a tune of a .331 batting average and slugging a team high .729 with 19 homeruns and nine doubles. On the mound Jacob Morin has been impressive out of the bullpen. The reliever has 16 appearances with 31.1 innings pitched and an ERA of 3.73, last weekend he closed out two of the Golden Eagles wins over SIUE. The Golden Eagles are very much a three true outcomes type of team as they currently rank second in the OVC in homeruns, first in walks and third in strikeouts. In addition, the team has only attempted 26 stolen bases on the year and has only been successful in 17 of those attempts.

Series History
Little Rock and Tennessee Tech have met just six times on the diamond with three game sets in 2016 and 2018. The Golden Eagles lead the series 4-2 with most games becoming high scoring affairs as there has been an average of 16 and one third total runs scored in each of the six games. The Trojans last win against TTU came in Cookeville, Tennessee on February 18, 2018, in game one of a doubleheader by a final score of 7-4. Little Rock's runs came in pairs with two runs in the third, fourth and sixth to go along with one in the seventh. Justin Garcia earned the save with four strikeouts over the final 2.2 innings while Donavin Buck was credited with the win. Eldridge Figueroa knocked in three RBI in a 2-for-3 performance, and Troy Alexander scored three times and drove in one with a 3-for-4 game that included a double.

Three Things to Know
  • The Trojans are entering the final two weekends of play in second place in the Ohio valley Conference, a game and a half back on SEMO and a half game up on Morehead State. This weekend and next weekend at Morehead will go a long way in determining seeding for the conference tournament with the top two seeds receiving a two-round bye straight into the double elimination portion of the tourney.
  • Nico Baumbach extended his on base streak to 43 games with a hit by pitch in the top of the eighth of Tuesday's game. This streak consists of every game that Baumbach has played in this season and includes all but two of the Trojans contests. This is the longest streak of reaching base in consecutive game since at least 2005 with the only player to crack 40 games in the last 18 years being Jacob Stover with 41 in the 2006 season.
  • Little Rock players currently make up three of the top five batting averages in the OVC with Tyler Williams and Nico Baumbach in the one and two spots and Luke Pectol rounding out the top five.
Probable Starters
The expected pitching rotation for this weekend's series is as follows:

Friday, May 12: RHP Jackson Wells (LR) vs. RHP Hunter Mann (TTU)
Saturday, May 13: RHP Noah Burkey (LR) vs. TBA (TTU)
Sunday, May 14: RHP Camden Sargent (LR) vs. TBA (TTU)
