JUANA DIAZ, Puerto Rico – Little Rock signee
Valencia Dariana tallied eight assists in one set and that would be all the playing time she would need as Puerto Rico (3-0) strolled to a straight-set win over Honduras. Set scores were 25-10, 25-12 and 25-9 in the final match of group play.
Â
Dariana also added a service ace to her tally in the lone set she played in late Thursday. Through the three matches in group play, she has totaled 33 assists, 14 digs, three aces, two kills and one block.
Â
By finishing Group B play with a 3-0 record – going 9-1 in sets overall – Puerto Rico heads straight to the semifinal round along with the Group A winner, the United States. Team USA (3-0) is the only team in the field to be more dominant than the Puerto Ricans with a 9-0 record in sets.
Â
Puerto Rico will now play either the winner of Mexico vs. Canada or the winner of Dominican Republic vs. Costa Rica on Saturday, May 13 at 8 p.m. AST/7 p.m. CDT.
