Box Score CONWAY, Ark. – Little Rock Volleyball closed out the Central Arkansas Invitational with a 3-1 (11-25, 26-24, 18-25, 24-26) loss to the host school in the Governor's I-40 Showdown presented by Arkansas Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Daedrianna Cail led all players with 14 kills and in hitting percentage with a .481 mark.
Arianna Escudero led the team in blocks with five, while
Kaylee Smith led the team in digs with 13.
Dariana Valencia recorded a team-high 17 assists.
Set one belonged to the Sugar Bears who started with a 2-0 lead on back-to-back kills. Cail scored the first point for Little Rock on a kill. Central Arkansas never relinquished hitting .343 with 16 kills on 35 attempts and only four errors. Little Rock recorded a .034 hitting percentage and lost 25-11.
The Trojans stormed back in the second set using their defense with six total blocks and capitalizing on UCA errors. Little Rock held as much as a six point lead on Central Arkansas. After a kill by
Jaycee Kennedy, the Sugar Bears fought back taking the set point on a Trojan attack error. Little Rock used two UCA attack errors and a kill by
Bella Cherry to win the set 26-24.
Little Rock battled back in the third set from an early 4-0 deficit by capitalizing on Central Arkansas errors and tying the set at 11. After the score tied twice, UCA rattled off four-straight points and maintained the lead winning the set 25-18 on a kill.
The fourth set was a battle with both teams scoring points. With the score tied at 13, the Trojans recorded a 7-1 run on UCA errors and a service ace by
Makaila Harris. Central Arkansas used errors by Little Rock to narrow the gap. The score tied seven times including at 24 after a Little Rock service error. A kill and a service ace by the Sugar Bears won the set 26-24 and the match.
