MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Little Rock finished a tough first day at the Beale Street Challenge in Memphis, dropping both of its matches against Southern Miss and unbeaten Arizona State in straight sets. The Trojans (3-7) will conclude the weekend with a 2 pm meeting against host Memphis, and the match will be carried live on ESPN+.

Southern Miss 3, Little Rock 0 — (25-21, 25-23, 25-18)
The Trojans outhit Southern Miss but had a hard time on both ends of the serving line, committing 11 service errors and giving up 16 aces to the Golden Eagles (5-5), who went on to beat Memphis and seep their first day. Little Rock attacked to the tune of .222 percent, with
Bella Cherry (8) and Jelia Fullerton (7) leading in kills.
Dariana Valencia had a team-high 12 assists.
Daedrianna Cail finished with four kills and four blocks.

Arizona State 3, Little Rock 0 — (25-16, 25-14, 25-10)
In the second match of the day, the Trojans saw the Sun Devils (11-0) hit for .333 percent with 38 kills and 13 service aces. Little Rock finished the match attacking at a clip of just .047, with 21 kills and 17 errors. Cail had a team-high eight kills and Cherry had three. Valencia led the team with 10 assists.
