MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Little Rock Volleyball grabbed an early lead against host Memphis on Saturday but couldn't stop the Tigers from rallying for a 3-1 win during the final day of the Beale Street Challenge. The contest marked the end of the Trojans' non-conference schedule, as OVC play begins next weekend with the team traveling to Southern Indiana.
Little Rock (3-8) took the opening set by a 25-20 margin but fell in three straight to give Memphis (4-8) the win with scores of 25-17, 25-17 and 25-16 in the sets that followed. The Trojans were limited in the attacking phase with a hitting percentage of just .106, compared to .241 for the hosts.
Bella Cherry led the Trojans with nine kills, followed by
Daedrianna Cail (7) and
Sophia Garrido (5).
Dariana Valencia led the team with 15 assists and
Kaylee Smith added nine. Cail had a team-high four blocks and four aces. Kaila Harris had 10 digs, followed by Valencia with eight.
The Trojans take on Southern Indiana (4-7) on Friday (6 pm) and Saturday (2 pm) at the Screaming Eagles Arena in Evansville, Ind. Both matches can be seen live on ESPN+.
