The Little Rock women's basketball team looks to start the new year on a positive note when it hosts SIU Evansville on Thursday evening for an OVC contest at 5 pm. The game can be streamed on ESPN+ and heard live locally on Sports Animal 920 AM with Trey Schaap on the call.

The Trojans (2-11, 1-1 OVC) split their first conference games, winning at Tennessee Tech before falling at Tennessee State in overtime.
Jayla Brooks set a career high with 25 points in the overtime game and the Trojans connected on 11 three-pointers, the highest single-game total in more than a decade.
Sug Williams also recorded Little Rock's first double-double of the season, finishing with 11 points and a career-high 16 rebounds.
Jaiyah Harris-Smith – sixth nationally with 7.4 assists per game – dished out 11 assists.

The Cougars (3-12, 0-2 OVC) were on the wrong end of six-point losses to Eastern Illinois and Western Illinois to start conference play. KK Rodriguez leads SIUE with 22 points per game and also a team-high 4.9 rebounds. Sofie Lowis is the only other Cougar scoring in double figures at 12 points per outing. All of SIUE's wins have come on their home floor. The Cougars are 0-8 on the road this season.

Little Rock has won the only previous meetings between the teams, both coming in OVC play last season. The Trojans won 61-38 at SIUE and 76-59 at the Jack Stephens Center. The teams will meet up again on Feb. 1 in Edwardsville, Ill. following Thursday's game.
