Fullerton, Roman earn All-OVC Volleyball honors

Little Rock's top offensive and defensive players of the season received recognition Saturday with All-Ohio Valley Conference selections, announced this morning by the OVC. Senior outside hitter Jeila Fullerton (First Team) and sophomore libero Andrea Roman (Second Team) each earned their first All-Conference awards.
 

"I'm very proud of these two players for everything they've accomplished this season," head coach Van Compton said. "Jeila has been an outstanding captain for us this year and Andrea has established herself as a top-tier defender, ranking among the nation's best in digs."

 
Fullerton has posted a team-high 18 double-doubles this season and leads the Trojans with 388 kills. She's also totaled 390 digs, 68 blocks and a team-high 445.5 points. She's led the team in kills during 17 of 31 matches with a career-high 23 coming early in the season against Tarleton State. During her senior season she's also set single-game highs for digs (20), blocks (6) and attack percentage (.516). Her career consists of 828 kills, 811 digs and 984.5 points.
 
Roman made a name for herself this season as the team's full-time libero, setting a new program record for digs in a single season (609). She set single-match highs of 32 kills (twice), 15 assists, and three aces (twice) during the season. Roman ranks first in the OVC in digs and fifth in the NCAA and helped Little Rock set a new program record for team digs in a season (2,227).
 
Fullerton and Roman lead the Trojans (16-15) into the OVC Championship tomorrow as Little Rock takes on Tennessee Tech in the quarterfinal round at 1 pm in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
