Little Rock women's basketball closes out regular season Saturday at home

Trojans can finish as high as No. 2 seed, as low as No. 6

The Little Rock women's basketball team will wrap up its regular season at home Saturday and recognize the five members of the 2024 senior class prior to tipping off against Tennessee Tech at the Jack Stephens Center. The game is scheduled for 1 pm and can be streamed on ESPN+ and heard on Sports Animal 920 AM.

THE MATCHUP
Little Rock (11-17 overall, 10-7 OVC) is 3-1 all-time against Tennessee Tech (15-13, 10-7), including a 59-57 win in Cookeville on Dec. 28. Tia Harvey hit the game-winner with less than a minute to play, giving head coach Joe Foley his 400th win at Little Rock. Leilani Wimbish-Gay pumped in 17 points, Faith Lee added 16 and Jayla Brooks had 10. Jaiyah Harris-Smith dished 10 assists and the Trojans shot 49.1 percent from the floor.

LAST TIME OUT
With a pair of starters out due to illness, Jordan Holman, Annemarie Batista and Sug Williams stepped up to lead the Trojans to a 68-46 rout of Tennessee State on Thursday – the largest margin of victory for the Trojans this season. Holman set a new career-high with 21 points on 8-of-10 shooting, Batista matched her career-best with 13 points off the bench and Williams finished with nine points, nine rebounds and eight assists. Faith Lee added 16 points and eight boards.

A LOOK AT THE GOLDEN EAGLES
Tennessee Tech ranks second in the OVC in offense (72.6) and fifth in defense (66.9). The Golden Eagles are the league's best free throw shooting team at 80.3 percent and rank fifth in field goal percentage (42.1) as well as fourth in three-point shooting (33.2). They are also second in blocks (3.9), first in assists (17.6) and first in steals (9.9). Preseason Player of the Year Maaliya Owens ranks sixth in scoring (16.1), Peyton Carter is ninth in rebounding (6.0) and third in assists (4.3).

OVC TIEBREAKERS
The Trojans (11-17 overall, 10-7 OVC) still have a shot at the No. 2 seed – and the double bye that comes with it – in next week's OVC Championships but could also fall into the No. 3, No. 5, or No. 6 seed. Little Rock cannot get the No. 4 seed in any scenario.
