EDMOND, OK.– The Trojan swim team headed up to Oklahoma to take part in the Sam Freas Invitational, a meet that honors the late legendary sprints coach Sam Freas.
The meet was not scored, but the Trojans walked away with four wins: two relays and two individual races.
"I believe our 'Send It Saturday' was a great success. It was exciting to see our team roll off the bus after a long day of travel and just race," said Head Coach Nathan Townsend. "For a lot of them, it was their first time in a long while racing 200s of strokes and 500 frees. It was fun to shake off the rust and see where we are. I'm looking forward to racing outdoors in our next meet at the Rice Fall Splash."
Relays
The Trojans started off with the 200 medley relay. The A team of Caitlin Romprey, Lauren Pieniazkiewicz, Jaelle Carlson, and Cheryl Poulsen placed first with a time of 1:44.23, out touching North Texas. The B relay squad of Gillian Boggs, Adara Stoddard, Erma Duratovic, and Gabriella O'Neil finished four seconds behind.
The 400 free relay was the final race of the day, with O'Neil, Poulsen, Elgin, and Carlson touching the wall in 1:36.20 to take first place.

Sophomore Elgin took third for the Trojans in the 200 free with a time of 1:54.72. Freshman Carol Heinz and Anna Nishikazi took fourth and fifth in times of 1:57.64 and 1:54.74, respectively.
