Women’s Basketball Hits the Road to Southeast Missouri to Begin Four-Game Road Stretch

After a clutch overtime win at home Sunday against defending Ohio Valley Conference champion Southern Indiana, the Little Rock Women's Basketball team heads to Cape Girardeau, Missouri to face Southeast Missouri on Tuesday.

The Trojans (7-8, 5-1) are set to face SEMO (4-11, 2-4) with a 5:15 p.m. tip-off at the Show Me Center. The game can be heard on The Sports Animal 920 AM with Trey Schaap on the call and will also be live streamed on ESPN+.

DOUBLE-FIGURE DIVAS
It's apparent Faith Lee is the leading scorer for the Trojans, but others are stepping up. Lee has scored double-figures in 13 games this season, including all six OVC contests. Jordan Holman scored a season-high 20 points in the win over Morehead State, marking double-figures in all OVC games this season. Sug Williams is also in the run, with four games in conference play with double-figures, and Emerald Parker scored a career-high 15 points in win over Southern Indiana, marking her fourth OVC game in double-digits.

THE FOLEY INFLUENCE
For legendary coach Joe Foley, defense was of most importance, and protégé Steve Wiedower is instilling that in his new team. In OVC play, the Trojans have held opponents to just 43 percent from the field and 33 percent from the three. Little Rock forces an average of 13 turnovers per game, while also having 7.7 steal per game. The Trojans are holding OVC opponents to an average of 64.2 points per game, while scoring 71.7.

BATTLE FOR THE TOP
The run for No. 1 in the OVC is tight. Little Rock is tied with Lindenwood for second place with 5-1 records, while Eastern Illinois is sitting at the top undefeated. Little Rock gave Southern Indiana its second loss of the season Sunday, pushing them to third place.

THE SERIES
The Trojans and Redhawks are not unfamiliar opponents, as their series history dates back to 2000. Since joining the OVC, Little Rock has owned the series with a 5-0 record against SEMO. Little Rock leads the overall record 7-2. In the last matchup, Little Rock defeated SEMO in Cape Girardeau, with a final score of 61-48.

FIRST LOOK: SOUTHEAST MISSOURI
The Redhawks last matchup fell in a close loss to Morehead State, 64-61. Da'Kariya Jackson led SEMO with 20 points, shooting 7-of-15 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the three. SEMO had 30 total rebounds, led by a career-high 11 from Briah Hampton. The Redhawks also forced 17 turnovers, converting them into 20 points. SEMO freshman Zoe Best has been impressive offensively, with seven-straight games in double figures. She averages 15 points per game.
