LITTLE ROCK - The Little Rock Trojans swimming and diving team will host their final home meet of the season this Saturday, celebrating Senior Day. They will honor nine team members as they compete against Southern Illinois and Henderson State in a tri-meet to kick off the Spring season.
"Senior Meet is always a special one as we get to celebrate 9 seniors and their contributions to the swimming and diving program. We did a special senior week for them and are looking forward to our first meet of 2025 after a very intensive winter training block. Southern Illinois has two of the best swimmers in our conference and Henderson State has one of the best female sprinters so we are due for some great competition on Friday. One thing I love about this group is how they always rise to the occasion no matter what. Excited to see how we perform!" - Head Coach Nathan Townsend.
The 1-meter board will kick things off at 12 p.m. at the Donaghey Aquatic Center, while swimming events will begin at 1 p.m. and the Senior Ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. View the full schedule of events below.
Little Rock will honor 12 swimmers that each have been instrumental for the program due to their grades in the classroom, performance in the pool, and leadership on the team: Lara Alsader, Kyra Apodaca, Gillian Boggs, Jaelle Carlson, Olivia Henderson, Lucy Jahn, Lauren Pieniazkiewicz, Caitlin Romprey and Devin Trammell.
The seniors will take on in-state rivals Henderson State and conference competitors Southern Illinois this Saturday. Earlier this season, the Trojans dominated Henderson State with a decisive 212-65 victory. Their last encounter with Southern Illinois was at the 2024 Missouri Valley Conference Championships, where SIU secured third place, while the Trojans finished sixth. With both teams bringing fierce competition, the meet promises thrilling races as everyone battles to touch the wall first.
After the past week of hard winter training, Friday will be a great chance for the Trojans to see where they are headed into the upcoming season and prepare for the Missouri Valley Conference Championships in February.
