ST. CHARLES, Mo. — Little Rock dropped the final contest of the regular season on Wednesday, falling to host Lindenwood in five sets. Fortunately for the Trojans, the result had no bearing on their postseason position heading into next week's Ohio Valley Conference Tournament.
Lindenwood claimed the match at Hyland Arena by scores of 25-21, 19-25, 20-25, 25-15, and 15-12, but the Trojans (16-14, 11-7 OVC) still land in a 4-vs-5 matchup in the OVC Championships, hosted by Eastern Illinois from Nov. 23–25.
"It was an up-and-down match—we got behind early, then battled back, and just couldn't close it out," head coach Van Compton said. "Fortunately, there's no time to sit and think about it because our focus is now on the task ahead at the OVC Championships."
Little Rock will open the tournament against Southeast Missouri in a first-round matchup Sunday at 7 p.m. The Trojans won the only meeting between the teams earlier this season on Sept. 27 in Little Rock. All matches in the tournament will be available on ESPN+.
In Wednesday's match, Bella Cherry (13 kills, 12 digs) and Dariana Valencia (23 assists, 10 digs) posted double-doubles. Andrea Roman finished with 23 digs, while Kaylee Smith added 18 assists.
