Women’s Basketball Looks for Fourth Straight Win as They Take on OVC Leader Tennessee Tech Thursday

After a well-earned win against Southeast Missouri Tuesday night, the Little Rock women's basketball team takes on the challenge of OVC leader Tennessee Tech Thursday. 

Tipoff is set for 5 p.m., at the Jack Stephens Center, where the Trojans are honoring breast cancer fighters and survivors with the annual Play4Kay game. The team will don special pink uniforms for the occasion.

WHAT'S AT STAKE
The Trojans came out with a much-needed win at home to continue their three-game winning streak over SEMO Tuesday night. Little Rock continues to vie for a top spot in the OVC standings but are sitting comfortably in fourth place with an 11-4 OVC record and a spot in the conference tournament clinched. The Trojans sit behind their Thursday opponent, Tennessee Tech, who is tied for first place with Lindenwood at 12-2 in conference play. Eastern Illinois holds the third-place spot with an 11-3 OVC mark. 

LAST TIME OUT
The Trojan post players had a strong night in the paint, leading Little Rock to a 60-52 win over Southeast Missouri on Tuesday night.

Little Rock outscored SEMO 32-24in points in the paint. 

Faith Lee led the Trojans with 13 points and five rebounds. Jordan Holman and Emerald Parker both contributed 12 points each and 13 combined rebounds. Mesi TriplettSug Williams and Jayla Brooks all scored seven points. 

Little Rock dominated the fourth quarter, outscoring SEMO 21-16.

Parker had three consecutive scoring plays with a jumper, layup, and rebound put back that pushed the Trojans lead late in the game, giving them the win.
 
RECORD WATCH
The Trojans have had a solid season under first-year head coach Steve Wiedower, with several players etching their names in the record books. In the matchup against Western Illinois, Jordan Holman put her name in the Little Rock women's basketball record book with nine steals. This topped a record that dates back to 1984 set by Angela Jones with eight steals in a game versus in-state opponent Philander Smith College.

Faith Lee is nearing a similar accomplishment. Lee is only 68 points away from breaking into the Trojan Top Ten in career points. The current leader is women's assistant coach Chastity Reed, who holds the top spot with 2,207 career points, set from 2007 to 2011.

LAST MATCHUP VS TENNESSEE TECH
The last time out against Tennessee Tech was all about the Golden Eagles on Jan. 18 on their home court.

Little Rock played catch-up the entire game on a day where made baskets were hard to come by. The Golden Eagles scored on a three-pointer by Chloe Larry in the first 35 seconds of the game to go up 3-0 and never relinquished the lead again. 
 
Lee led Little Rock with 13 points. Parker added 11 points and 9 rebounds. Holman chipped in eight points. Williams was quiet offensively but grabbed 8 rebounds for Little Rock.
 
The Trojans trailed 33-18 at halftime and by double figures for the entire second half.

The Golden Eagles were led by 21 points from Reghan Grimes, who shot 8-10 from the floor. 

The high point of Little Rock's game was forcing 22 turnovers and converting those to 13 points.

THE SERIES
Little Rock leads the series against Tennessee Tech, 4-2. The Trojans fell in the last matchup on January 18 with a final score of 70-49.
