PITTSBURG, Kansas — Nick Newby broke one individual school record Saturday and had a hand in setting another program mark during the 10
th Annual Russ Jewitt Indoor Gorilla Classic, hosted by Pittsburg State University.

Newby shattered his own school record in the 800 meters, finishing second while clocking a time of 1:50.51, then teamed up with
Chase Peterson,
Devin Stevens, and
Andrew Payton to take down the program record in the Distance Medley Relay, where the Trojans also finished second and turned in a time of 9:36.00, besting the previous mark by more than seven seconds. Little Rock's DMR team currently holds the fourth-fastest time in the nation.

Jonathan Jones and
Deshawn Roberts finished first and third, respectively, in the men's high jump. Jones cleared 6-10.25 to take gold.
Aaliyah Mathis also won gold in the women's shot put with a distance of 48-5.25.

Kyla Lochtefeld set a new personal best in the women's 3000 meters with a time of 9:50.65, where she currently ranks second in the Ohio Valley Conference. Lochtefeld finished third in the event.
Gabriel Torres also finished second in the 60 meters.

This was the final competition before Little Rock travels to the OVC Indoor Track and Field Championships, scheduled for Feb. 25-26 at the Farm Bureau Fall Creek Pavilion in Indianapolis.
