The Little Rock Women's Basketball team fought hard for 40 minutes, challenging Ohio Valley Conference leader Lindenwood in the Jack Stephens Center on Thursday night. The Trojans ultimately fell, 60-51.
Little Rock was led by
Jordan Holman with 17 points and six rebounds.
Sug Williams and
Faith Lee both contributed nine points, while
Jayla Brooks,
Mesi Triplett and
Emerald Parker all had four points each. Brooks also had three steals.
The Trojans came out hot in the first quarter, outscoring the Lions 15-13. The effort continued into the second quarter, with Holman's rebound put-back with 8:22 left in the half. This put the Trojans down by just one, 18-17. The Lions kept up the pace, going on a 14-9 run to end the first half.
In the third, Little Rock came out firing, forcing three turnovers from the Lions in just the first two minutes. With 2:38 left in the third quarter of play, Williams hit a layup and drew the foul for a potential three-point play, but missed the mark from the charity line, putting the Trojans down 38-36. The Trojans trailed 41-38 going into the final 10 minutes of gameplay.
Holman tied it up, 43 all, with 8:32 left in the fourth quarter with a drained shot from the three. Holman drained another three-pointer putting the score 49-48, the Trojans just trailing by one with just 5:10 left to play. The Trojans tried played catch up in the final minutes but only scored once in the last three minutes of the game. The Lions ultimately pulled away with the win.
Lindenwood was led by Brooke Coffey with 15 points and five rebounds. Mya Skoff followed with 12 points, five rebounds, and two steals.
The two teams were tied in rebounds with 33. The Trojans fought hard in the paint, outscoring the Lions 36-26.
The Trojans fall to 13-13 overall, 11-6 in conference play. Lindenwood keeps their No. 1 spot with a 19-7 overall record, 15-2 in conference.
Little Rock now looks to Saturday as they face Western Illinois for one last home game of the 2024-25 regular season. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.
