Trojan Women Look to Seal Fourth Place in OVC as They Take On Southern Indiana Thursday

The Little Rock women's basketball team is tied for fourth place in the Ohio Valley Conference with their next opponent, Southern Indiana (16-7, 8-4). The Trojans head to Evansville, Ind., to play the Screaming Eagles with tipoff set for 5 p.m. Trey Schaap has the call on The Sports Animal 920 AM, and the game can be viewed on the ESPN+ live stream.

The Trojans are looking to break the tie and gain ground on the three teams tied for first.

Little Rock (10-11, 8-4) had a 1-1 record last week, after sealing a season series win over Tennessee Tech and losing a close match with UT Martin. Head coach Steve Wiedower hopes to finish out the season strong.

"We've got two tough games on this road stretch then get to come home and play four in a row," Wiedower said. "If we take care of business like I think we should, then we will be in good shape to head into the OVC Tournament."

LAST TIME VS SOUTHERN INDIANA
The Trojans took the win against the Screaming Eagles at home earlier this season. The game took place on Sunday, January 13th due to a winter storm that hit the entire state of Arkansas. With 8:35 to play in regulation, Little Rock trailed by seven and its junior star guard Faith Lee fouled out with 27 points. A win didn't seem likely. However, the Trojans battled back to force overtime and take an 89-83 victory. The win was the fourth straight for the Trojans.

RECORD WATCH
With Faith Lee averaging 16.2 points per game, she is looking to break into the Top 10 of all-time Little Rock scoring leaders. She is just 100 points away from breaking into the Top 10 in career points for Little Rock women's basketball. In just her junior season, Lee sits at 1,042 career points.

STRENGTH ON BOTH ENDS
The Trojan defense has been exceptional for years, but in conference play, its offense has really stepped up. Little Rock averages 71.0 points per game, while shooting 44.4% from the field, 32% from behind the arc and 72.4% from the free throw line. Little Rock's defense averages 19.0 forced turnovers per game in OVC play, while also averaging 7.0 steals.

SHARE THE LOAD
Little Rock's scoring efforts have come from players sharing the rock. In just Ohio Valley Conference play, the Trojans average 11.6 assists per game, with four Trojans averaging double figures. Faith Lee averages 21.6 points per game, while Jordan Holman contributes an average of 16.7 points. Sug Williams and Emerald Parker are also sharing the load, with 10.7 and 10.1 points per game.

THE SERIES
The Trojans lead the series, 3-2. Little Rock won the last matchup in early January 89-83 in overtime.
