In a back-and-forth game, Little Rock fell, 9-7, to Tennessee Tech Sunday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field.
The contest was tied 7-7 in the top of the ninth when the Golden Eagles (18-7, 3-0 OVC) struck for a pair of runs.
Ryan Geck, who was 3-for-5 with 3 RBI, doubled with one out in the bottom of the ninth, but the Trojans (9-15, 0-3 OVC) couldn't cash in.
Little Rock totaled 10 hits in the game.
Ty Rhoades was 2-for-5 with an RBI.
Cooper Chaplain also drove in two runs.
Starting pitcher
Jack Cline (4-1) gave up four runs in the second and one in the third but settled in to pitch five innings for the Trojans. He took the no decision giving up five runs on five hits with four strikeouts. Reliever
Blake Van Cleve lasted an inning when Cline left the game. Van Cleve gave up two runs on two hits with a strikeout.
Hunter Royal took the loss and pitched well in three innings giving up two runs on three hits. Unfortunately, one of the hits was a two-run home run by Mack Whitcomb, which gave TTU the lead in the ninth.Â
Little Rock took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but TTU countered with four in the second. They led 5-3 when the Trojans took the lead back with three runs in the bottom half of the frame. Geck drove home a run with a single and Chaplain doubled home a pair.Â
Alex Seguine padded the lead with a solo home run in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 7-5 game.
The Golden Eagles scored two tuns in the top of the sixth to tie the game 7-7.
Jack Brafa (5-1) was credited with the win and Juan Vargas notched his fifth save.Â
Little Rock plays host to Louisiana-Monroe (9-14) Wednesday at 3 p.m., at Gary Hogan Field. The Trojans beat ULM, 5-3, at Monroe, La., last month.Â
The Trojans' next OVC action is next weekend at Southern Indiana.
