Trojan Women’s Season Ends with Loss to Southern Indiana in OVC Quarterfinals

It was an uphill battle for the Trojans on Thursday in an Ohio Valley Conference tournament quarterfinal matchup with Southern Indiana. The Trojans' season ended with a 73-52 loss.

Little Rock was led by graduate Sug Williams with 18 points and four rebounds. Jordan Holman followed with her double-double effort of 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The Trojans (14-16) came out hot in the first quarter, going on a 6-0 run in the first two minutes. USI's Meredith Raley drained a three, cutting the lead in half.

The Screaming Eagles (22-11) took their first lead with 5:37 remaining in the quarter after a turnover by Williams turned into a made layup by Raley.

Little Rock trailed 19-15 heading into the second quarter.

USI went on a 10-2 run in the first three minutes of the second quarter and took a 13-point led after a made second-chance layup by Ali Saunders. USI led Little Rock 28-15.

The largest lead of the second quarter came with USI's Chloe Gannon making a hook shot with 2:30 left to play. The Trojans were down by 16, 36-20.

Little Rock kept chipping away with layups courtesy of Williams and Mesi Triplett.

The Trojans trailed going into the halftime break, 38-26.

The Little Rock defense came out battling in the third quarter, with a quick lost-ball turnover from USI's Vanessa Shafford. Holman caught the steal and was fouled by Raley on the shot attempt, making two-of-two free throws.

Lee's back-to-back made jumpers cut the lead to just six points, with USI leading 42-36.

With 3:42 left in the third, Brooks fouled Raley on a shot, counting the basket and then making the free throw.

The Screaming Eagles led the Trojans 54-38 heading into the final quarter. Little Rock couldn't get any closer than that.
