BRENTWOOD, Tenn. – Little Rock's
Mark Stockdale has been named
Co-Ohio Valley Conference Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Thursday morning. He shares the honor with Tennessee Tech's Haden Maxwell.
Stockdale earned the recognition after a strong performance at the
Bearcat Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio, where he finished
third overall. His efforts helped lead the Trojans to a
runner-up team finish at 7-under par, six shots better than Arkansas, who placed third.
"I am really happy for Mark to earn his first OVC Player of the Week for his performance in Cincinnati," said Little Rock head coach
Austin Eoff. "I know how frustrated he was after Minnesota, where a few tee shots in the final round set him back, so it was great to see him get back on track this week."
A sophomore transfer from Arkansas and a native of Northamptonshire, England, Stockdale opened the tournament with a 1-under 70, then followed with back-to-back rounds of 2-under 69 to finish at
5-under for the event against a competitive field.
"He did a great job after a tough start, being 3-over through six holes, to then play the remaining 48 holes at 8-under par and lead our team to a big second-place finish," Eoff said.
