Cookeville, Tenn. — The Little Rock Trojans battled through a nearly six-hour weather delay and came away with a gritty result on the road, earning a 1-1 draw against Tennessee Tech. Candice Kilderry delivered the equalizer in the final minute, while goalkeeper Peyton Urban made six saves to keep the Trojans within striking distance.
How It Happened
The match was originally scheduled for 1 p.m. but was pushed back significantly due to lightning and rain delays, finally kicking off hours later than planned.
Despite the difficult circumstances, Little Rock continued to press offensively, outshooting Tennessee Tech 22-14. The persistence paid off in the 90th minute when Kilderry found the back of the net, scoring her third goal of the season to level the match.
Head coach Kelly Farell praised the team's resilience after the long delay: "I'm really proud of the character that the team showed. The game ended almost six hours after it was supposed to start… delays are hard to deal with but the team persevered. They bought into our game plan for the last 7 minutes and were rewarded, so I'm really proud of them. It's hard to get results on the road and this was a good result, especially considering the circumstances."
