SAINT CHARLES, Mo. — Little Rock was unable to recover from an early surge by Lindenwood, falling 71–43 on Saturday afternoon.
Lindenwood built early momentum in the opening quarter, scoring 31 points to establish control of the game. The Lions' efficient shooting and early pressure helped create separation, as Lindenwood carried a 46–15 lead into halftime.
"We turned the ball over too many times early, and you can't do that against a very good team," Little Rock head coach
Steve Wiedower said. "We never gave up and did some good things in the second half, but we can't start a game like that."
Jordan Holman led the Trojans with a game-high 17 points, knocking down seven field goals and adding two steals.
Destinee Salgado finished with five points and was active defensively, while
Mya Cotto chipped in five points, going 3-for-4 at the free-throw line and recording two steals.
Alaina Payne contributed across the stat sheet with three assists, three rebounds, and two steals as Little Rock continued to compete on both ends of the floor.
Brenna Burk provided a spark off the bench with a fourth-quarter three-pointer, and
Pearson McVay added a fast-break layup late.
Little Rock showed improvement after the break, holding Lindenwood to an 11–11 tie in the third quarter and outscoring the Lions 28–25 over the final two periods. The Trojans finished with 26 points in the paint, but the early deficit proved too much to overcome as Lindenwood closed the game at the free-throw line.
The Trojans return home to host Eastern Illinois on Thursday, Jan. 15, with tip-off set for 5 p.m. at the Jack Stephens Center.
