BRENTWOOD, Tenn. — Little Rock's indoor track and field program is off to a strong start for the 2025–26 season, with four Trojans earning spots on the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track and Field Watch List.
Freshman
Colter Maya, who set a school record in the 300 meters last December, leads the men's track honorees. He's joined by sophomore
Morcellous Harris on the men's field list, while seniors
Takia Palmer and
Brooklyn Marcee headline the women's track and field selections, respectively.
The Trojans return two conference champions from last season's OVC Indoor Championships on the men's side. Juniors
Devin Stevens and
Shane Fisher each claimed titles as part of the distance medley relay team, with Stevens also winning the 800-meter crown.
Maya made an immediate impact in his first collegiate season and is expected to play a key role in Little Rock's championship push. "It's cool to be recognized, but I see it more as a starting point. Being on the list just means the work I'm putting in is headed in the right direction, and I've got a lot more to prove," he said.
Harris, last year's OVC Most Outstanding Freshman, competes in the heptathlon and continues to show steady improvement. Palmer brings experience and consistency as a multiple-time race winner, while Marcee has been a mainstay in the pole vault, finishing in the top three at every OVC meet since joining the Trojans.
Head coach
J.P. Behnke praised the group: "We have a very talented team this season, so there were a lot of Trojan student-athletes to pick from. On the women's side, Takia and Brooklyn are both seniors with decorated careers. Each came very close to qualifying for NCAA Regionals last year and are motivated to get over that hump. On the men's side, Morcellous and Colter are coming off a strong fall of training and have set the bar high going into this indoor season."
Little Rock resumes its indoor season Jan. 24 at the Bob Teel Invitational in Columbia, Missouri, hosted by the University of Missouri.
