LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Building on a strong opening meet, Little Rock track and field returns to action this weekend at the two-day Washburn Open in Topeka, Kan.
The Trojans will look to continue the momentum from their season opener at Vanderbilt, where Little Rock broke two school records, the 300 meters and the 1,000 meters, both set by freshmen. Eight women recorded top-10 performances in program history, along with five men, including the 4x100-meter relay team.
The Washburn Open provides a strong midseason test, attracting several Division I and Division II programs from across the Midwest.

Little Rock at the Washburn Open
This marks Little Rock's third appearance in Topeka in the past five years. The Trojans have historically performed well at the meet, particularly in the sprint events, a traditional strength of the program.
The field is expected to be competitive, with teams such as Tulsa, Oral Roberts, and in-state rivals Central Arkansas and Arkansas-Pine Bluff among the entrants.

"Although it's been almost two months since our last meet, we've had three great weeks of practice since winter break," head coach
J.P. Behnke said. "I expect us to pick up where we left off in December."
Team Report
With the Bob Teel Invitational canceled due to inclement weather, the Trojans have benefited from additional rest and preparation. Most of the roster will be available this weekend, with limited absences, including junior distance runner
Shane Fisher and senior pole vaulter
Brooklyn Marcee.
