COOKEVILLE, Tenn. — Little Rock came up short Saturday, falling 72-47 at Tennessee Tech after leading early in the opening quarter.
The Trojans held an 11-9 advantage after the first 10 minutes behind efficient early shooting, but Tennessee Tech took control in the second quarter. The Golden Eagles used transition offense and second-chance opportunities to build momentum, outscoring Little Rock 16-8 in the period to take a halftime lead.
"We started the game the right way and competed early," Little Rock head coach Steve Wiedower said. "But Tennessee Tech did a good job controlling the glass and converting extra possessions. That made it difficult for us to get back into a rhythm."
Jordan Holman led the Trojans with eight points, five rebounds and two steals. Payne finished with four points, four rebounds, three assists and a block, while Jarahle Daniels added four rebounds and three assists. Teamer chipped in five points and two steals.
The loss moves Little Rock to 10-11 overall and 6-5 in Ohio Valley Conference play, while Tennessee Tech improves to 11-9 overall and 4-7 in the OVC.
Little Rock continues its trek through Tennessee playing UT Martin at 5:30 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 3.
