LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Little Rock Trojans opened the Ohio Valley Conference Indoor Track & Field Championships on a strong note Tuesday, with multiple athletes scoring points and two Trojans earning podium finishes on day one in Louisville.
Little Rock's men and women both sit in fifth place after the opening day, with the men totaling 20 points and the women close behind with 17. The Trojans anticipated a measured start, as many of their top events in the sprints are scheduled to conclude on the final day.
Leading the way were seniors

The heptathlon also got underway, completing four of seven events. Senior
Patrick Young currently leads the standings, while sophomore
Morcellous Harris sits in fourth place heading into the final three events.
"I thought we had a really strong first day," said head coach
J.P. Behnke. "To come away with two runner-up finishes and have several others step up and score points shows the competitiveness and depth of this group. Our athletes put themselves in good positions and competed with confidence. Now the focus shifts to recovery and preparation, because there are still a lot of points on the table tomorrow. We're excited for the opportunity and ready to finish strong."
Little Rock will look to gain ground on Southeast Missouri State Redhawks, who lead both the men's and women's team standings. Day two begins at 9 a.m. ET with the conclusion of the pentathlon and heptathlon events, followed by the field events at 11 a.m. ET and running events at 12:30 p.m. ET.
