LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Little Rock sophomore catcher
Cade Martin has been named to the Buster Posey Award Midseason Watch List, recognizing the nation's top collegiate catchers.
Martin has been a steady and impactful presence for the Trojans (17-12) throughout the 2026 season, contributing on both sides of the game while anchoring the pitching staff behind the plate.
"It is a great honor to be named on the Buster Posey Midseason Watchlist," Little Rock head coach
Chris Curry said. "It is a really prestigious award, and the committee really does its homework. It is a reflection of how hard Cade has worked and how valuable he is to our team."
At the plate, Martin is hitting .313 through 27 games with 31 hits, 18 runs scored and 15 RBI. He has recorded six doubles and three home runs, including a two-homer performance at Memphis on February 17 that showcased his power and run production.
Martin has been a consistent presence in the lineup, posting multiple hits in 10 games this season, including a three-hit effort at Tennessee Tech on March 20. He also drove in a season-high four runs at Arkansas-Pine Bluff on March 3.
Defensively, Martin has been equally reliable, recording a .974 fielding percentage with 101 putouts and 12 assists while helping guide the Trojan pitching staff. He has thrown out six base runners and continues to provide leadership behind the plate.
His impact was again on display Tuesday at Ole Miss, where he collected two hits, including a home run, while handling 13 putouts against a nationally ranked opponent.
Martin's selection to the Buster Posey Award Watch List places him among the elite catchers in college baseball and highlights his continued development as one of the top players in the Ohio Valley Conference.
The Trojans hit the road this weekend for a three-game set with Western Illinois. Friday's opener is scheduled for 2 p.m. The Saturday and Sunday games both begin at 1 p.m.
