FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. — Little Rock turned in a strong showing at the Arkansas Spring Invite, with junior
Matthew Tyeskie leading the way in a competitive field.
Tyeskie placed third in the 110-meter hurdles, continuing his impressive season after breaking both the Ohio Valley Conference and school records in the 60-meter hurdles earlier this year.
"I appreciate the opportunity to just go out there and compete," said Tyeskie. "It's a chance to showcase the work we've put in and see where we can make adjustments. Great competition tests your race composure and exposes what we need to do to win championships at the end of the year. All in all, a great meet. Let's keep it rolling—Go Trojans."
Junior
Devin Stevens also delivered a solid performance, placing sixth in the 800 meters in the highly competitive invitational section, which featured the top entries in the field. Stevens crossed the line in 1:51.30.
Senior
Deshawn Roberts recorded a fourth-place finish in the high jump, clearing 2.06 meters.
In the pole vault, senior
Brooklyn Marcee posted a season-best mark of 3.94 meters to finish sixth.
Distance runners graduate student
Jordan Smith and sophomore
Aaliyah Joshua each earned top-10 finishes in the 3000 meters. Smith clocked an 8:41.30, while Joshua finished in 10:27.09, as both continue to round into form.
"Most of the team is training through this week, but a few athletes needed another competition, so we took a smaller group to Arkansas," said head coach
J.P. Behnke. "Overall, we accomplished what we set out to do and are excited to put on a show in front of our home crowd next week."
