Rebecca Chilton Peoples joined the UALR Women’s Basketball program in September of 2010 as the Director of Basketball Operations after an eight year stint as assistant basketball coach at Arkansas State and begins her 17th season in the industry.
At UALR, Peoples will be in charge of monitoring academic progress, arranging film exchange, handling the recruiting database, and assisting in community outreach.
At Arkansas State, Peoples was the primary underclass recruiter and was in charge of coaching the guards and team offense. She also served as strength and condition liaison, directed on-campus official visits, and served as team community service coordinator.
In 2009, Peoples was named the Arkansas State Assistant Coach of the Year in large part because of the WBCA Pink Zone game in which she was the coordinator and marketing director.
Prior to Arkansas State, Peoples served as assistant coach at Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, NV where she assisted in five players signing with Division I programs and coached three nationally-ranked guards.
From 1999-2000, Peoples was an assistant basketball coach at Northern Arizona University where she served as recruiting coordinator and coached the perimeter athletes and the team defense. In 2000, the Northern Arizona recruiting class was named the top recruiting class in the Big Sky Conference.
Peoples began her collegiate coaching career at Yavapai College in Prescott, Ariz. as women’s basketball and men’s basketball assistant coach and women’s basketball recruiting coordinator. While at Yavapai College, Peoples helped lead both teams to 20-win seasons and signed eight top Arizona female student-athletes.
Peoples coached from 1994-1998 at Amphitheater High School in Tucson, Ariz. as the junior varsity and varsity girls basketball coach. Prior to Amphitheater High School, she worked her first year at Green Field’s Country Day as the varsity boys assistant basketball coach.
Peoples graduated from Prescott College in 1997 with a bachelor of science degree in exercise science and physical education. She is married to Kevin Peoples, a member of the University of Arkansas football staff.
