LITTLE ROCK, Ark.—Arkansas
Little Rock's volleyball team suffered its second straight loss to Western
Kentucky (25-30, 16-30, 27-30) at the Jack Stephens Center Friday.
Western Kentucky won their thirteenth straight match and hit a .415 mark,
while the Trojans hit .214.
“I thought we
played really well at times,” said head coach Van Compton. “We had a
mental lapse the second game. We really missed Ana on defense. We had 27
digs to their 40. Now we need to turn the page and look forward to Middle
Tennessee Sunday.”
Larisa Durmisevic
knocked down the team high of 10 kills, while Megan Naborowski contributed
a team high nine digs.
UALR came out
blazing the first game keeping up with the Lady Toppers fast paced
attacks. The Trojans came from behind to tie at 17.
Western Kentucky
capitalized on Trojan errors along with powerful kills to win game one.
UALR lost momentum
the second game allowing their opponents to limit them to a -.094 hitting
percentage with only six kills.
The Trojans jumped
on game three leading by as many as six points, but Western Kentucky
fought back to regain the lead.
A kill by Ivanka
Davidova tied the score at 27 at the end of game three. Three UALR errors
allowed their conference opponents to take the sweep and win their 13th
straight match.
Arkansas-Little
Rock continues conference action Sunday against Middle Tennessee. The
game starts at 1 p.m. in the Jack
Stephens Center.
