Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?UALR and Centenary combined for 30 hits as the Trojans won their second straight game over Centenary 15-10 at Gary Hogan Field Saturday. UALR improves to 9-11 on the season, while the Gents fall to 10-14.
Brett Lawler, Matt King, and Tyler Mason each went 3-for-5 on the day with Mason recording his first home run of the season. He along with Sean Joyce recorded three runs.
Joe Campbell picked up his second win of the season pitching five innings for UALR.
The Trojans held Centenary scoreless in the first inning while bringing in a run on a sacrifice fly by Osvaldo Torres.
Centenary put up two runs at the top of the third. Mike Davis opened the inning with a double down the left field line. A single to center field by Justin Huff and a double by Matt Webb scored the runs to give the Gents a 2-1 advantage.
The bottom of the fourth gave UALR the lead as the Trojans recorded six runs on four hits and two errors. After Brian Asbill was hit by a pitch and stole second, UALR recorded an out, before King singled to left field to bring Asbill across home plate.
Mason's double followed by a sacrifice fly by Nick DeSanctis would score two more runs in the fourth. Lawler would score on an error as the Trojans took a 7-3 lead.
Both teams would score two runs in the fifth inning, before Centenary edged closer to the Trojan lead at the top of the sixth scoring one run.
The Trojans recorded six runs on seven hits and no errors at the bottom of the sixth with Torres, Asbill, Joyce, and Mason picking up RBI including Mason knocking a three run homer over the left field wall with two outs.
Centenary answered back at the top of seventh recording five runs on five hits.
The rest of the game remained scoreless as Derik Drewett and Gavin Gray allowed no hits for the Trojans.
UALR continues basketball action Sunday as they finish the series with Centenary. Game is slatted for 1 p.m. at Gary Hogan Field.
