Box Score LITTLE ROCK, Ark.?The UALR baseball team completed a three game sweep of Centenary Sunday with their second shutout of the series recording a 15-0 victory at Gary Hogan Field. The Trojans improve to 10-11, while Centenary falls to 10-15.
UALR recorded a season high of 18 hits and recorded a total of 46 for the series.
Ashur Tolliver pitched seven innings and recorded his third win of the season allowing only two hits.
Brain Smiley went 4-for-6 on the day recording two runs and two RBI, while Matt King was a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and three RBI.
The game remained scoreless until the bottom of the second, when UALR posted three runs on three hits to take the lead. King recorded a two RBI single in the inning, while Brad Swiderski hit an RBI double to left field.
After a scoreless third inning, UALR combined for five runs over the next three innings and recorded seven hits.
UALR scored big in the bottom of the seventh with seven runs scored on five hits and three Centenary errors.
Brett Lawler started the inning with a single followed by a single to left field by Smiley. Sean Joyce reached on a fielder's choice while the other runners advanced bases on a Gent error.
Lawler scored on an error, before Robert Taylor hit a sacrifice fly to bring Smiley home. Nathan Parker answered with a RBI single to center field.
After an error scored the next run, Ron Lindahl and Smiley picked up RBI to bring the Trojan lead to 15-0.
Adam Champion allowed only one hit in the top of the ninth as the Trojans won their third straight game.
UALR continues baseball action Monday as they host Missouri State. Game is set for 6 p.m. at Gary Hogan Field.
