Box Score MOBILE, Ala.?South Alabama's Dan Goldberg pitched all nine innings striking out eight batters while allowing only one run as UALR lost 9-1 to the Jaguars Friday. The Trojans fall to 11-16 overall and 1-6 in conference action.
Ryan Gotcher went 3-of-4 for the game and scored the only run of the game. David Klumpp started for the Trojans pitching six innings.
The game remained scoreless over the first two innings with UALR and USA (15-12, 3-7 Sun Belt) each recording one hit.
UALR scored the first run of the inning in the top of the third. With one out, Gotcher singled to center field, before Brett Lawler recorded a double to right to bring in the run.
USA answered back in the bottom of the inning recording four runs on three hits and two errors. The next inning the Jaguars held the Trojans scoreless while scoring two more runs to take the 6-1 advantage.
Over the next five innings, USA scored three runs on nine hits, while UALR recorded three hits and no runs.
UALR continues conference action tomorrow in game two of the three game series against South Alabama. Game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
